NEW UPDATED NEWS!!!

YOUTH A RIDERS ENTERING ADULT CHAMPIONSHIP ROUNDS

I've got a positive answer from John Moffat in connection with youth A riders entering adult championship events on a no award basis - with the final decision resting with the Clerk of the Course, who must assess each rider on an individual basis on his/her ability to tackle the course safely.

John has copied me a letter sent to a Ian Macphail in November covering the same question ( Click here  to veiw letter)

COURSE SEMINAR

He has agreed to come down to the Fort on Saturday March 15th at 10.30am to conduct a Clerk of the Course seminar. I've booked the Highland Suite at the Nevis Bank for 3 hours and ordered teas, coffees and biscuits. If the time doesn't suit anybody, we need to let JM know as soon as possible and change the room booking.

John pointed out:

Can you tell the guys that want a licence they will need to have a passport size photo to bring with them on the day?

FEBRUARY NATIONAL AND LAGNAHA

Lochaber & District MCC callender is now available for 2008 with a total of 13 events planed for this year including the two great events that have already passed (January club trial and Feb national) with an amazing amount of riders entering each event.

Lochaber club would like to thank everyone who helped set out the trials (too many to list but you know who you are!!!) and to Allan Macmaster who took the time to spend the day at Lagnaha in January clicking away taking some impressive photos of the local riders batteling there way through the sections,

We would also like to thank Thom Smyth from Stevenston who came to our February National trial (held in Kinlochleven ) ,Who done a great job of taking a-load of brilliant photos and taking the time to put them onto disc and sending them to me. Am working on gettin them onto the website ASAP. We would like to take this chance to invite Thom back to any of our forthcoming trials and take his camera to snap away!!!!!!!!

COLIN APPLEYARD BRITISH SOLO TRIALS CHAMPIONSHIP 2007 REPORT

First off all we would like to thank, Arthur's brother James  for all his help preparing the sections over a period of four months.  Mr Iain Shankie for promoting the trial with posters, Daily Record, section markers and other signs - free of charge.  Iain and his son Lee, Murdo, Vicky and Ian, David and Lorna, James and wee Duncan for their help on the Friday prior to the event.  All the observers and other officials who turned up on the Sunday - all their help is greatly appreciated.

John Collins the ACU chairman and steward for the event along with our own John Moffat commented on the trial as excellent.  John Collins was astonished at the organisation and said in British trials, the Lochaber clubs event was "Top of the tree!"  He also said it was the perfect setting for a European Championship and suggested we should apply for one.  Organising a BC round is pretty hard work and to have both championships in one year without the full backing of the club it would be impossible.

With the wonderful dry weather we have been experiencing the practise session made it look too easy, so we were in a bit of a panic on the Saturday night.  Sections were tightened but we need not have worried because it rained for about an hour and that was enough to make the trial much harder. All the riders enjoyed themselves and it was a good start to the series.  From a personal piont, Gary's fifth place was excellent, especially carrying an injury and not bike fit.  Although he was shattered after the second lap, the good news is that his leg held out.  Finishing the trial with only four full time world championship riders on front of him was a great achievement.

We will be applying for a BC for next April.  Thoughts on a European championship would be appreciated.
